ART B Syllabus
Course purpose
The purpose of this course is to act as an introduction to 2D (two dimensional) art. The course will cover multiple different medias such as pencil, colored pencil, ink, water color, oil pastels, and paint. The course will also work to build a solid base of knowledge in regards to both processes and terminology related to art criticism and art production.
Course expectations
Students will be expected to be actively engaged on a daily basis. The class is student centered and differentiated instructional for each student, students are expected to challenge themselves and push their abilities throughout the course. Students are given the proper amount of time to complete the majority of projects in class. Students are expected to come to class prepared with the necessary materials for the day. All students are expected to COMPLETE all assignments to the best of their abilities.
Grading
Students will be graded in accordance with NC/CMS policies. There will be a minimum of 15 grades per each 9 weeks, a minimum of ten of those will be informal grades (30%) and five will be formal grades (70%) of quarter grade. Students will be graded on a rubric for each project that will both measure student’s accomplishment of the different objectives for each project. ALL unfinished work will receive a 0. Project completion will be decided by the course instructor.
